no keyboard no mouse

this brief asked for the design of an installation suited to the science museum, the piece must be interactive but not use a keyboard or mouse. having visited the museum i chose to design a piece for the atmosphere gallery. the installation explores the limited nature of earth's natural resources, in particular peak oil, and the need to conserve energy. although most people know about global warming they don't hear about the fact that energy sources are running out as much and why it is an important reason to save energy. if energy is saved the current soruces will last for longer and will give scientists more time to perfect current renewable sources and/or develop new ones as these are currently not capable of replacing the current soruces.

the installation encourages people to turn their devices off whilst not in use and not on standby as this uses around 10% of electricity in the home. as a visitor approach the podium the screens start to play a video about energy sources running out and the need to save power. as the visitor steps away from the podium the screens turn themselves off, not allowing them to be left on while not in use.

the installation uses design elements found within the gallery such as the ovel screens and the use of the information card at the podium explaining the exhibition.
